Choosing Good Patio Furniture
When you are trying to find a perfect outdoor furniture set that suits your needs you are going to have to take a look on a lot of other things than just the outlooks of the set. You need to make sure that they are quality made and will last for a long time, even in the rough climates and also be sure that the materials used are correct for your use. Don’t make hasty decisions based on an offer you get from your local furniture store since you might end up having to pay a lot more because you need to buy a new set sooner. Try to come up with a few good patio ideas before you go shopping, so that you can compare the costs of different styles of fixtures.
The materials that are used in patio furnitures come usuall in three different categories. The most common one that you can see used in the inexpensive models is of course plastic. You are not going to be able to find anything cheaper but at the same time they are very weather resistant. This material allows you keep them outside even during the winter and it comes in two types. There are PVC furniture and Resin furniture and the latter is what you should bee looking to. Resin has the quality of being cool even if it is in a warm climate and is usually made so that it looks like wood. The cheap PVC furniture look like the material used in plumbing. Usually you can find this type of furniture in garden furniture sales everywhere – they are inexpensive and for that reason they are commonly sold with a discount.
Another material that is starting to be more and more popular is metal. These are also quite weather resistan and can be kept outside year round, but when it comes to different types there are some limitations. Although metallic patio furniture are the most durable and long lasting they can get their share of damage over the years. Furniture that is made out of iron is usually hard to move because of the weight. You can’t find a lot of these in homes but actually they work quite well in windy conditions, since they are not moved by the thoughest wind. They are hot when the climate is hot and you can’t sit on them if the sun has been shining directly to them. When it rains they do thend to get humid and are affected by corrosion, so the rust is going to be visible. If you want to refinish them it is easy since you just need to paint it. Aluminium furniture are lighter than iron and nearly as durable with less cost and maintenance.
A traditional material that has been used in patio furniture for as long as they have existed is wood. There are many problems when it comes to wooden patio furniture but also there are a lot of good things. Not only is the appearance great but you can easily refinish them if you get bored to the color or texture. Also they are quite light, but not as light as the PVC onces, and no nearly as heavy as iron. So it works in windy weather also. Although they are not that weather resistant, so if you live in a rainy climate or don’t have a canopy, you should look for different materials if you don’t want to use furniture covers most of the time.
Choosing good patio furniture takes time and dedication so you should do your study before you go out and buy what looks good – you might end up buying new ones sooner than you think.
