Painting Metallic Patio Furniture
There comes a day when you look at your metallic patio furniture and decide to paint them. They maybe have taken their toll from the humid weather and rust and corrosion is starting to show, or they have been roughly used and have dents in them which need to be taken care of, before the rust and corrosion kicks in. A metal uncovered is quite vulnerable to the wheather and that is why you should always try to fix any breaking of the coating to make sure that your outdoor furniture are going to last for a long time.
When you are starting the project the first thing to do is make a little plans. What kind of colors are you going to use and where you are going to do it. If you have a garage you can use for the process then it is good since you are going to have a nice and even climate where the paint is going to be able to dry nicely, and you are going to avoid problems related to that. Also if you are doing this outdoors and it starts to rain, you will have some problems with the drying of the paint, since the humidity is going to make it impossible for the water to vaporize from the paint.
The very first thing to do is to take out sand paper and polish the metal: you are going to have to take out all the previous paint to make sure that the new one is going to stick well. Also by removing all the rust and sighs of corrosion you are going to prevent further rusting and corrosion since there is always humidity and air pockets left inside rusting. Always use a paint that is designed to be used on metals and handles well in rough weathers and so is made for outdoor use. Evenly apply a thin coating and repeat the process once the previous coat has dried; you should add at least two coats and preferrably three of four, to make sure that it lasts longer, and it is going to be more even. You could use a smooth sand paper on the paint before you add another coat to make it stick better.
